Model Matchsticks

Model matchsticks can be fascinating and most people think of them as a small little toy that gets made to past the time by some strange person, but this is not the case!

Model matchsticks can be incredible! Yesterday I came across this amazing creation and thought that I would show you about it just to show you what can be possible!

It took Arnst six incredible years and he used 956,00 matchsticks to build this car. I am sure that it took a lot of love to build this not just from him, but also from his wife for putting up with it. And it cost over 6000 Euros to build!

Apparently it can be packed away into 45 different pieces so that they can take it too exhibits. I wonder how many miles to the gallon it would get!

This is an incredible display of passion. For the full story please visit Model Matchsticks

Matchstick Kits – My Return to an old Hobby

Matchstick kits used to keep me really amused when I was a young boy and it was something I had forgotten all about until recently when I was looking around on Stumbleupon I came across a site that sold one of the very same matchstick kits that I made many years ago.

It was a really weird feeling. A bit like seeing an old friend that I had not see for ages and so I made a decision to revisit my matchstick kit days again and I spent a couple of hours looking around to see some sites that were selling the kits.

Strangely not much had changed, there were the same old (with some new) matchstick kits that I made as a boy and I actually got a bit excited.

I also came across a site that was displaying an enormous matchstick kit of St Paul’s Cathedral and they were selling it for about $30,000. Not that caught my attention!

So I decided to do two things:

1) Was to find and order some matchstick kits and to start building them again and re-kindle the passion that I used to have;
2) To launch this new website to show the world what I am doing. I think I will document the process of making the kit.

So welcome to my very first blog about matchstick kits and I hope that you keep coming back to see what news I can find about our subject and also to see my progress as I build my first model in about 30 years!

As you can see this is a brand new site, so allow me time to build it with some exciting gadgets and content and if you have any content related that you might find you would like to add, please feel free to do so and I will add it to the blog at Matchstick Kits

Welcome to Matchstick Kits
