Eiffel Tower Model

Eiffel tower model builder Alexandr Pashkevich used over 7,000 matches to build this beautiful 1 meter high structure.

The Eiffel tower model is well lit with a number of working LED lights.

The Eiffel tower model is an incredible replication of the real Eiffel tower built in France and named after it’s designer Gustave Eiffel and is still to this day the tallest building in Paris. It is over 1,000ft high which is equivalent to an 81 floor building. When it was built in 1889 it was the tallest building in the world.

Amazingly the tower can sway up to 7cm because of the wind and can actually move 18cms because of heat expansion caused by the sun.

It weighs over 17,000 tonnes in total and every 7 years they add another 50 to 60 tonnes of paint to make it look nice and protect it from rusting.

Originally the building was only given a permit to stand for 20 years, but because the tower offered great communication opportunities during the war it came to be seen as a major part of the war success effort and the people fell in love with it.

Thank you to pjlighthouse for the original story and photos.

The Eiffel tower model is a wonderful example of the admiration that has been given to the tower and recently in 2002 it celebrated it’s 200,000,000 visitor. The beauty of the tower has dramatically been captured by this very unique Eiffel Tower Model

Rolls Royce Used Cars

Rolls Royce Used Cars as you have never seen them before however this is not a car you can actually drive away and probably doesn’t have the value of a real one.

Silver Ghost Rolls Royce

Rolls Royce Used cars are not build like this one. Although it took over a year to build and have moving wheels and other parts I don’t think it will ever have the collectibility of a real Rolls Royce.

When the car was first built it was called the ugly name of “40/50 h.p.” and it was produced in Manchester originally. Later production moved to Derby in about 1908.

The original “Silver Ghost” was actually a car with the registration plate AX 201. Many other cars were given names, but this one seemed to stick and in 1925 Rolls Royce launched the car as the Silver Ghost.

Well this version of a Rolls Royce Used Car is probably not worthy of the name Silver Ghost, but rather wooden ghost.

This Rolls Royce Used Car is made out of 1,016,711 matchsticks and is over 13 feet long.

And here is my model tram…

End tram 8 june 09

Tram 8 june 09

Tram inside 8 june 09

It is getting bigger now with the sides on and also the bench seating. Next I will be starting on the underside of the roof. So far I have worked on it about 35 hours and nearly 2,000 matches.

It’s pretty cool if I say so myself, but it is not a patch on the above Rolls Royce Used Car
